Giving Yourself Permission to Evolve
There’s this unspoken belief that once you hit your 40s, you're supposed to be done.
Done figuring things out.
Done growing.
Done dreaming about what's next.
Especially in professional spaces, I’ve heard things like:
“People in their 40s aren’t looking to change anymore.”
“They’re settled.”
“They’re not seeking growth.”
But honestly? That couldn’t be further from the truth for me.
In fact, I’ve never been more motivated to change my life than I am right now.
This Is a Season of Becoming, Not Settling
As I approach my 40’s, I’m learning more about myself now than I ever did in my 20s or 30s. There’s a deeper level of self-awareness, and it’s fueling some major changes in my life both personally and professionally.
I'm not interested in staying stuck in a version of myself that no longer fits. This season feels like a return to myself… and also a complete reinvention at the same time.
And honestly? A lot of that motivation comes from being a mom.
Having my son has changed everything, not just how I show up for him, but how I show up for me.
I want to model what it looks like to live fully, to grow boldly, to pursue purpose courageously.
I want him to see that change is not something to fear, it's something to embrace.
You’re Not Broken If You’re Craving Change
There’s nothing wrong with you if you’re feeling unsettled.
There’s nothing wrong with you if you want to shift careers, rethink your priorities, or let go of things that no longer make sense.
You are not flaky.
You are not behind.
You are simply evolving.
And that evolution? It’s a sign that you’re listening to yourself more deeply than ever before.
You Don’t Need Anyone’s Permission, But You Can Still Give It to Yourself
So many of us were raised to seek permission.
To wait until we were “qualified” or “ready” or someone told us it was okay.
But here’s what I’ve learned in this season:
You don’t need permission to grow. But you can still give it to yourself, with grace.
Permission to change direction
Permission to dream again
Permission to start over
Permission to want more, even when your life looks good on paper
You are allowed to pivot.
You are allowed to expand.
You are allowed to be more than who you’ve been so far.
You’re Not Done Yet, You’re Just Getting Started
This version of you, the one who's questioning, dreaming, listening, she is powerful.
You’re not losing yourself in this process.
You’re coming home to who you really are.
You don’t have to shrink just because society says midlife is a time to settle.
You can rewrite the story.
You can step boldly into something new.
You are allowed to change.
And you are worthy of everything that change can bring.
